The Old Traders Lodge (built in 2008) is OrbiTrav’s personal choice of accommodation for our guests straying at Erindi. The Lodge is designed with style and class in mind and is harmonious with its surrounding environment and wildlife.

With and amazing concentration of African animals on the private reserve, you can be guaranteed to sight some of Africa’s finest species!

Accommodation

Pathways wind through the lodge to reveal 51 luxurious suites tucked between indigenous trees and soft green lawns. The spacious suites exude the classic safari aesthetic you’d expect from a five-star resort. Within walking distance of each suite is the colonial style Old Traders restaurant and viewing deck which boasts magnificent views across a busy waterhole home to hippo’s, crocs and many thirsty passing elephants.

The elegantly decorated main lodge serves as the main dining area, serving mouth-watering dishes which are prepared to the highest standards using the freshest ingredients. Dining at Old Traders Lodge is a culinary adventure, combining regional African cuisine with the multitude of cooking styles left behind by early explorers of the African continent.

In addition to this, Erindi stocks a wide selection of South African wines, spirits and liqueurs.

The Livingstone Suite

The grandest of Erindi’s suites, the Livingstone Suite is a standalone thatched roof house located on the Old Traders dam wall with exclusive views across the waterhole. It has its own private entry way leading onto a wooden deck suspended just above the water. Wrap-around glass doors and four entrances give the majestic bedroom, living area, and bathroom a sense of being outdoors.

The interior oozes an old world colonial charm with a master bed draped in fine linens and mosquito nets. Persian carpets, granite tiling, dark wooden furniture, leather tub chairs, and a large leather sofa offer all the peace and comfort you will need after action-packed game drives. There is a private collection of wildlife books to read.

The kitchenette is convenient with its abundance of fresh fruit and an espresso machine, while a fully stocked booze cabinet and fridge grants unlimited access to a multitude of beverages – serve these up in the suite’s crystal glasses. The open plan living area flows into a striking bathroom where an impressive bathtub invites you in to absorb the views. A pedestal basin with marble top has Old English faucets with extendable vanity mirror.

The outdoor area is equally impressive with a small jet-powered splash pool and sun loungers. An outdoor shower is accessible next to the pool. The quiet garden is beautiful for bird watching and is home to the grey go-away-bird (Corythaixoides concolor), also known as the Grey lourie, which often visits.

The 180-degree views of the surrounding waterhole and bushveld are spectacular. These elements combined make the Livingstone a suite fit for a king.

This large VIP suite accommodates two guests and is situated on the dam wall with a view over part of the dam. The spacious bathroom has both bath and indoor shower and is also accompanied by a stunning outdoor shower set with an African theme. This suite also has a private deck and private splash pool.

Superior Suites

The nine superior suites are elevated above the Old Traders waterhole on the dam wall, allowing guests to take in incredible 180-degree views of the rolling bushveld plains.

Crocodiles, hippos, elephants and various bird species are regulars – just meters from the suite’s private patio which is edged out by manicured green lawns. The room is adorned with accents of African print which contrasts against the rich wooden furniture, crisp white linen, and dark leather armchairs.

Enjoy close proximity to the Old Traders restaurant, which is a short amble walk along the path.

The 30 luxury suites are ideally located for views of the smaller waterhole, which is floodlit at night. Each suite has a patio – hours can pass sitting in one of the armchairs watching the Impala come to graze en masse.

A generous bathroom offers a large bath tub and a separate shower. Twin sinks offer convenience, whilst a large mirror and granite tiling lends to that luxury safari pizazz.

The bedroom and lounge area with its tub chairs, throws, and hide-covered ottoman feels both cozy and inviting. Climbing into cool, crisp sheets brings on sweet sleep after an adventurous day spent in the bush.

Family Suites

Our family suites are ideal for families on the move. Their facilities have been well-thought out to ensure the entire family is well catered for.

One of the family suites is next to the swimming pool, which has two rooms linked by an inter-leading door. One of the rooms has a double bed; the other has 2 single beds.

The second family suite is situated near reception. It also has an inter-leading door with a double bed in the one room, but 3 single beds in the second room. The family suites have a shared bathroom with a shower.
